Sunday Yoga Blog Times: Moving Into The Forest After 50

Senior Yoga Teacher Gregor Maehle announced this week that he is moving into the forest because he is now a yogi of a certain age (over 50) in which, according to the Hindi tradition, we transition from the age of being householders and into the hermit stage.  He and his wife Monica bought some beautiful land (picture below) in Australia, see more in his Facebook.

More translation from the YogaAsanaGalu (my capitals, it makes it easier to learn the name of the book), from Satya and Grimmly.
This chapter is a bit gross as it gets into the fine details of the kriyas or yoga purification practices.  You may want to also read the comment from Grimmly where he recounts what his teacher said about them.  Sharath is also usually reminding students that the Asthanga yoga practice is so strong that kriyas are only used when one is sick, otherwise the asana by itself takes care of the purification.

About that secret mystery Ashtanga Teacher: Peter Sanson who is visiting the West Coast these days. Shhh.

The yoga world was hit hard this week with bad news for the lineage of Krishnamacharya.  The Master Teacher’s grand son, Kausthub Desikachar, had to step down from his position of leadership at the Indian institute after being accused of mental sexual and emotional abuse while imparting a course abroad.

How to Deal With Crappy People.

Lanka had this video on his post this week and for some reason I had lost it, great to find it again, what an inspiration to see the practitioner on the left going over primary in spite of having serious difficulties with his leg and in a beautiful and modified way.  Talk about dedication, enjoy!

Morgan Lee has put out a description of her project of photographing Ashtanga Yoga rooms as she travels and turning it into a book. It’s  in Kickstarter.

I just started doing yoga through one of my <a href="; rel="nofollow">JGFit yoga classes</a>. I woke up today with a very surprising feeling, Soreness! I can&#39;t believe I was sore from something that required very little moment. However, the whole balance factor must be the reason why I am feeling the way I am today. Do you have any solution to this?
